Truck buyers shopping for a full-size pickup with a choice of powerful V8 engines, superior towing capacity and sweet off-roading chops should place the 2018 Toyota Tundra at the top of their list when it’s time to look for a Toyota Tundra for sale near Boise. With a lineup that features a tough work truck, a comfortable and well-equipped daily driver, and a rough-and-ready rock-crawler, there’s no reason to consider any other truck.
Changes for 2018 include refreshed styling and the standard Toyota Safety Sense P. Select SR5 models have a new available TRD Sport package. The regular cab is no longer available.
The 2018 Toyota Tundra is offered in Double Cab and CrewMax cab styles. Three bed sizes are available: a 5.5-foot short bed, a 6.5-foot standard bed and an 8.1-foot long bed. The trim levels are listed as SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition. Some combinations of cab styles and bed sizes aren’t offered on all models.
Rear-wheel drive is standard across the lineup and a four-wheel drive system is available. Also standard is a six-speed automatic transmission.
2018 Toyota Tundra buyers get two V8 engines to choose from. The 4.6-liter V8 engine generates 310 horsepower and 327 lb.-ft. of torque. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway for models with rear-wheel drive and 14 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway with four-wheel drive.*
The Tundra’s 5.7-liter V8 engine puts out 381 hp and 401 lb.-ft. of torque. This block includes a tow/haul setting that allows the driver to choose the transmission system most appropriate for towing or hauling heavy loads. Fuel economy for the 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 13 mpg city/18 mpg highway for rear-wheel drive and 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway for the Tundra with all-wheel drive.
Maximum towing capacity is 6,800 pounds for the 4.6-liter V8, while the 5.7-liter V8 can pull up to 10,500 pounds. Accessing the truck bed is a snap, thanks to the lower-and-lift tailgate. The Deck Rail system includes adjustable cleats in the bed that makes it easy to tie loads down. Fold down the split rear row to create even more cargo space. The 2018 Toyota Tundra also comes with tow hooks, heated side mirrors and a wiper de-icer.
Whichever trim level and cab style you choose, you’ll notice an attractive cabin built with passenger comfort in mind. Power-operated and heated front bucket seats with leather-trim offer a comfortable ride. Step up to the Platinum trim and you’ll get heated and ventilated front seats.
Standard safety features include stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, trailer sway control, a full complement of airbags and a rearview camera. The new standard Toyota Safety Sense P system includes lane departure alert, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and automatic high-beam detection. The Platinum and 1794 Edition trims get a blind-spot monitoring system.
